Solacia Deploys High-Capacity USIM Cards for Next-Generation 4G Services
At the CTIA Wireless show, Solacia will be showcasing its high-capacity USIM (Universal Subscriber Identity Module) cards for the next-generation of 4G services from Verizon (News - Alert) and other mobile providers. As the leading smart card business integrator, Solacia was recognized by the Korea Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (KOTRA) as the winner of the top ten hottest Korean companies.
ISIS, a national mobile commerce network, was jointly created by the three leading U.S mobile phone carriers including AT&T (News - Alert) Wireless, Verizon Wireless, and T-Mobile. By leveraging this type of network, users with USIM cards can easily access popular transit ticketing applications, mobile credit card applications, and membership loyalty programs along with mobile banking services. Moreover, subscribers can make contactless ATM withdrawals as well as trade stocks and coupons.
In a release, Yoon-Ky Park, Solacia CEO said, “Led by our passion to realize the potential of smart card applications, Solacia is helping to fundamentally transform how people shop, pay, and save. By 2015, nearly half of all mobile phones will include NFC functions. Korea's mobile providers foresee a mobile payments market of $145 billion by then, and the US market will be potentially four times as big.” With the advent of 4G infrastructures, NFC technology will soon result in high capacity USIM cards with 1 gig flash memory replacing non-standard, contactless SIM cards.
